The Stronger Communities Program is providing a further $150,000 in funding for small-scale upgrades and new equipment and is intended to encourage and support participation in local projects, improve local community participation, and contribute to vibrant and viable communities.
RDAMWG congratulates the Shires of Mingenew and the City of Greater Geraldton on their success in receiving project funding under Round 5 of the Building Better Regions Fund (BBRF).
The Shire of Mingenew received $20,000 for the Mingenew Hill walk which will upgrade the existing Mingenew Hill walk trail and construct a look out on top of the hill. The Shire also received a further $18,000 to stage a series of Astrotourism events in the Mingenew region during 2021-2022.
The City of Greater Geraldton received $1,131,200 in the environment category to further advance the Mid West Regional Resource Recovery Facility. This project will construct a waste transfer station, materials processing facility, and new weighbridge, whilst also upgrading the power network and the tip shop.
To date BBRF has contributed $1.38 billion across nearly 1300 projects throughout Australia. Over the 5 rounds the fund has allowed many important infrastructure and community-based projects to proceed in the Mid West and Gascoyne. On behalf of the communities in these regions RDAMWG acknowledges the important contribution made by the Federal Government to better facilities and economic opportunities and the ongoing support to regional growth.
