Planting Trees for The Queen’s Jubilee Program

Local community groups have the opportunity to play a part in celebrations for the Jubilee of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II as the Australian Government marks the Queens 70 years of service with grants to plant trees in her honour. 

The Planting Trees for The Queen’s Jubilee Program is one of a range of national and community events planned by the Australian Government to celebrate The Queen’s Jubilee year.

Grants from $2,500 to $20,000 will be available to a broad range of organisations and eligible groups and organisations in the electorate of Durack are invited to apply.

Go to https://www.melissapricemp.com.au/grants for Application guidelines and an Expression of Interest (EOI) form.

The closing date for EOI submissions is 5pm, Friday the 11th of March 2022.

Suitable projects must include formal commemorative events in 2022 to mark the Jubilee, plantings of regionally-appropriate tree species, and installation of commemorative signage or plaques.

Inquiry into Small Business Natural Disaster Preparedness and Resilience

The Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman (ASBFEO) Bruce Billson is conducting an inquiry into Small Business Natural Disaster Preparedness and Resilience.
 
As part of the inquiry, the Ombudsman will engage with relevant stakeholders, including small businesses, as well as their advisers and representatives, and with government and other relevant organisations.
 
From February 2022, Ombudsman Bruce Billson is set to visit natural disaster-hit areas across the country seeking vital on-the-ground feedback. If you would like to participate in a feedback session, then please visit the  ASBFEO Website for more details.

​The Ombudsman will report to the Minister for Employment, Workforce, Skills, Small and Family Business, the Hon Stuart Robert MP no later than 18 March 2022.

$77 million Safe Transition Industry Support Package

Crippling insurance premiums for residents and business will be reduced with new legislation in Federal Parliament to reduce insurance premiums in cyclone prone regions. The Reinsurance Pool is expected to begin on July 1 and is expected to reduce insurance premiums by up to $2.9 billion for policies over 10 years.

The Remote Airstrip Upgrade Program provides funding to improve aerodromes in remote areas of Australia. The aim is to provide year round all weather access and improve delivery of essential goods and services.
  • Opening date:03 Feb 2022 06:00 AM AWST
  • Closing date:17 Mar 2022 02:00 PM AWST
The Remote Airstrip Upgrade Program provides grants to enhance the safety and accessibility of aerodromes in remote and very remote areas of Australia. It will provide year round all weather access, particularly where road access is unavailable or unreliable.
This will:
  • improve the safety of aircraft, operators and passengers using remote and very remote airstrips
  • facilitate improved delivery of essential goods and services such as food supplies, health care, community mail and passenger air services
  • complement air services delivery to communities subsidised under the Australian Government’s Remote Aviation Access Program (RAAP) through the Remote Air Services Subsidy (RASS) Scheme
  • meet operational requirements of the RFDS or operators providing similar aeromedical services
